It's summertime again, which means those evil bike thieves are on the prowl. GOSH DANG THEM! So we are reinstating this GLOBAL CAMPAIGN OF ILL WILL to band against the thieves in hopes they will be found and called out on their sucky ways.
This time around, we're giving away 10 AMAZING KRYPTONITE LOCKS and 1 SUPER AMAZING GRAND PRIZE NEW YORK LEGEND KRYPTONITE LOCK (big thanks, Kryponite for locking up with us!). The best MISSING!!! stories will be chosen on these criteria:
- The best worst stories of thievery
- The best posting of the original "Missing!" posters
- The best original "Missing!" posters - these could be your own story, someone else's, or even made up!
Submit all your stuff to ihateyoubikethief@gmail.com. Then we'll post your stuff for all to see on this here blog.
We'll select 10 of the best and send them a Kryptonite lock to make sure their bicycle is never stolen again! The best story of the best will receive the New York Legend lock.
ALSO NEW THIS TIME AROUND: a global bike thievery heat map. Plot your bike theft on the map and see if others have encountered the same fate. Then stay far, far away from these Hot Spots! (THERE WILL BE NO NEXT TIME, BIKE THIEVES!)
ALSO! ALSO! Help those who have been hurt by a bike thief - and spread the word of "Missing!" so that these bikes can be found. Twitter this page and UFace it and add it to our Flickr pool and all that other stuffs! Oh, and support the movement even more with your physical self - it's easy, since the tee that started it all is now back up for sale. Now go destroy bike thieves'sss lives'ss!
**PS FOLKS: You have until July 29th to send us your stories, so get rollin'!

found this website while wearing the shirt. I am pleased by this.
ReplyDeleteThat is ever so meta. So much so, that it pleases us as well, despite our anger towards bike thieves.
ReplyDeleteDon't even get me started!! It's been like 5 years since that guy stole my bike and I still get angry, I'm SO gonna enter my story

ReplyDeleteLast week someone in The Netherlands organized a collection on Twitter for a young woman who posted that her motorized bike had been stolen. She needed it to get around because she has severe asthma, but she had little money to spare and was inconsolable.
ReplyDeleteNow she is the proud owner of a brand new motorized bike - with a good lock! I love it that a bunch of strangers can do such a beautiful thing for someone they never met :D
Aww, that touches our hearts, Petra! Do you have the link to the story? We'd love to see it!
